As I work on this new site and fill it will all kinds of goodies, I'm also working on the next musical chapter.
You see, after spending a lifetime in pretty much one city, Winnipeg, you get to know everyone. You have solid connections, you have a reputation and you largely know all the players... who's available, who's not etc.
Moving to another country is like starting from scratch, almost. My first year in Las Vegas was dedicated to working our triple-tribute showcase, tributes to Blondie, Cyndi Lauper and the Ramones. Since we had our own guys and we were constantly rehearsing and making our own in-roads, there wasn't a need, nor time, to venture too far out into the Vegas community to mingle and figure out who's who.
The members of the triple-tribute have returned to Canada and although I am still on the lookout to reassemble the trio with local Las Vegans, I'm now finding the time to reach out and make connections in the local rock scene. It really is like starting from scratch but at least there is a scene and there's definitely some cool players.
I'm not sure exactly what's next but I do know it's time to start creating something. A CD, a live band, one song at a time... I'm not sure. A lot of the old L.A. rock scene has moved here so now it's time to dig in and figure out
